Frederick Styles died from wounds on 10th September, 1914 after having been sent back to a base hospital near Rouen but as yet, there is no information, as to when and where he was wounded. The 1st Royal Berkshire battalion were part of 6 Brigade, 2nd Division that had been in France since the beginning of the war, had retreated back to the River Marne with the rest of the BEF and had seen action during thd Battle of the Marne.
